Happy Birthday G's!

Happy Birthday Gentry, Gertrude, Gambler, Giggles, Gabe, Gyro, Gypsy, Gopher, Ginny, Gibbs, and Gatsby! It's hard to believe it's been a year already. Wilma and I wish you a very happy first birthday!
These pups have changed SO MUCH over the year!

From wrinkled pups with pink noses....

.
.
.
to fuzzy little rolly pollies...

.
.
to irrisistabley cute, playful puppies...
to beautiful grown up dogs...

Deb says "Gentry (Miss Red) is an absolute crack up... Just a funny, funny pup! ....she has she has become so sweet and snugly over the last couple months, and just is a lover... in addition to being my shadow!"

.
Giggles (Miss Olive) went to Disneyland this past summer with Natalie, who used to work there!
Mary says "Gertrude (Miss Hot Pink) moved to the life of leisure September 30th, she was officially career changed. Gertrude has extra cartlidege in her elbow causing arthritis and a limp so she is unable to work – she has adjusted well to laying around being loved all day."
Chris says that Gambler (Mr. Orange) is still a big boy weighing in at 80 lbs!

Diane says that Gyro (Mr Green) "...is a big boy also and all of a sudden has developed extremely long legs. His temperament is wonderful..."
.
Katie says that Gatsby (Miss Purple) "...is enjoying her last days of freedom. She has dug a hole over the septic tank and managed to chase a deer through the yard.....It is sad to think of our babies in a kennel, but we know it has happy endings."

Wilma and I hope all the G's have happy endings!

Hiking in the White Tank Mountains

It was a perfect day for a mountain hike in the White Tank mountains in Waddell Arizonia. Macy and Kayla agreed.

We hiked the Waterfall Canyon Trail. It's an easy, 1 mile trail with lots of desert flora along the way

and the White Tanks at the end, pools of water in white rocks.

Macy had a great time!

Macy's First Christmas

Macy LOVED Christmas! Lots of presents, new toys, and she almost had herself a pumpkin pie! But it was saved at the last minute!

Doggy Dress Up

Girls are never too old for a good game of dress-up! But instead of Barbie dolls, we now use dogs.

Is it Wilma, Macy, Pearl, Dempsey and Nittany....or Dasher, Prancer, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen?

Teyla is an adorable little elf.

Gina wear pink well!

And Kramer is secure enough with his manhood to wear pink. Gotta love the boots!

Christmas Party For the Dogs

We hosted the Jackson/Lansing Leader Dog Christmas Party. Thirteen dogs (from 10 weeks old to 4 years old, 5 golden's, 4 yellow labs, 1 black lab, 1 German Shepherd, 1 poodle and 1 lab/terrier/Shepherd mix), 18 people and 3 kids!

We played Reindeer Games,

exchanged doggie gifts,

made paw print ornaments,

played outside in the yard,

shared some doggie kisses,

and had an all around good time.

Future Leader Dogs in attendance were Macy, Gina, Addy, Zeva, Quin, Jubilee, and Bella.
Some non-Leader Dog guests attended too. Of course Wilma and Kramer were there, along with Teyla (Paws Foster pup), Pearl (cc'ed Paws), Nittany (cc'ed Paws) and Dempsey (adopted shelter dog).

Wilma had a very special guest, Nittany, formally known as Henna! This was Miss Lime Green from Wilma's first litter. She was cc'ed from the Paws program at 5 months for bad elbows. She quickly out grew it, is in perfect health and has been enjoying life as Matt's pet for over a year now. It was SO good to see her again! Matt says she loves the water and lives for treat time, traits she undoubtedly got from her mom. He also said she is a fast runner. She must have gotten that from her dad Wheatly because Wilma doesn't do anything fast, except steal treats!

Another special guest was Quin. He completed his training at Leader Dogs, but was not issued to a client. Bethany got him back for the holidays so he would not develop kennel stress at the Leader Dog school. Her and Ron are thrilled to have him back, but said it'll be hard to say good-bye to him for a second time. He is a very beautiful golden, I love his color and his squinty eyes!
At te end of the day, everyone was dog tired!
