Leader Dog Puppy Day

Once each year, Leader Dogs has a special day where puppy raisers get together at the Leader Dog school in Rochester, MI for a fun filled day. The breeding dogs are introduced and litters are reunited with each other and their moms. There are tours of the LD facility, presentations by clients and their guide dog, and classes and information from the trainers. Lunch, dog treats, fun and games, and watching playful puppies are also part of the day.

Jennifer and I attended with Macy, plus we got to bring mom Mia too! Four other pups from Mia's litter of 11 were there too: Duggin, Pilot, Eli and Daisy, who is also known as Pearl (important to know since 2 of Mia's pups were named Daisy!) Eli and his raiser came all the way from Wisconsin!

Many of the dogs were dressed up for the occasion so of course Macy had on a cute girly outfit too!

"H" Litter Update

Six of the H puppies, Hugo, Hyde, Harvard, Hazel, Halo and Honey, are in Phase 3 of training. This is where they will be matched to a client and trained to do tasks specific to the thier client's needs. Wilma and I are so proud of these pups!

Splash!

Wilma is learning to Dock Dive! We joined a club, Currey's Sport K9's, in Romulus, MI. They have a fully lined and filtered pond with a deck around it and a diving dock. It's very nice! We meet twice a month for swimming and dock diving practice.

We've been twice now and Wilma has already advacned from having to be pulled in, to jumping in on her own. She loves the water and loves to swim, so it didn't take much to get her to jump.
Some of the dogs fly off that dock! This is my goal for Wilma, however she's not quite convinced it's her goal for herself yet.

Family Reunion

This past Monday was Family Reunion Day for both Macy and Wilma! Abby, Mia and Chauncey came to visit.

Abby is Wilma's mom. She is as sweet as can be and is starting to look her age. But that's OK, after all, she has 22 grandpuppies!

Mia is Macy's mom and Chauncey is Macy's little brother. Chauncey was only 7 oz when he was born and because of that and the possibility of health problems, he is not being raised as a Leader Dog. You'd never know he was once so small....he's the same size as Macy now!

Everybody into the pool! A bit too small for 6 dogs. But the kids had fun in it!

Poor Kramer felt so out of place with all those yellow dogs!

Fourth of July

Happy 4th of July!

Macy was fascinated with sparklers, but kept a safe distance.
We could hear LOTS of loud fireworks from our house, but all 3 dogs were calm as can be.

Bathing Beauty

Wilma was in a Bathing Suit Contest last weekend at the Bully Splash Bash, a fundraising event for the Dearborn Animal Shelter.
