The Puppies Are Here!
Wilma delivered her second litter of future Assistance Dogs today....11 healthy golden lab puppies. Five boys and 6 girls. Eleven must be Wilma's lucky number! The delivery went very smoothly with no problems. The first 3 pups were born within 1o minutes! The first pup was born at 6:10 and and at 6:20, puppies 2 and 3 decided to come out together! An hour and a half into it, we had 6 puppies! Wilma was a puppy machine! The littlest pup is 15.4 oz and the biggest is1 lb 3 oz. A very even sized litter.
Wilma watches over her new puppies.
Wilma's tail is wrapped to keep all the fluff out of the way. It's a self sticky fabric wrap, used for horses. It really helps. Last time she wore hot pink. This time we went with aqua.
After number 11 was born, Wilma continued to have contractions and grunt. I thought number 12 was on it's way! After a call the vet, I brought her in to be x-rayed, which showed she was clean.

My Contact Info
I moved in June and had to change my e-mail too. In doing so, I lost track of some of the "H" litter families.
My new e-mail is laurav126@gmail.com
Brian and Kelli, I'd love to see Hugo!! And thanks for posting a comment about contacting me. I lost your e-mail when I switched.
To all the "H" litter families, I'd love to put together another collage of the puppies for their one year birthday. If you could, please send me a head shot picture, with no gentle leads if possible, and I'll see how many I get and try to put one together. I can't believe they are already 10 months old and about to become big brothers and sisters!

We Have Puppies!
I've suspected it for the past 5 days now, but it was confirmed today when my vet felt a couple small puppy fetuses! He said there were probably more but they were small and hard to find. And at this point, all that is important to know is if she's pregnant, and she is!
Up untill a few days ago, Wilma showed no signs of being pregnant. But all of a sudden she became very "nippley", really hungry, extra tired, a little grumpy and more clingy, if that's even possible.
Wilma's due date is December 31st. Happy New Year Puppies!

Does She Look Pregnant?
I keep rubbing Wilma's tummy and asking her if she has any puppies growing in there. She looks at me like I'm crazy, then lays back and enjoys the tummy rub.
It's still 2 weeks from her vet appointment, when we'll know for sure. But I think she has that special glow about her. Although sometimes, I don't think she's sure about being a mom again. She seems to have a worried look.Saturday, November 1, 2008
A Day in Holland
Kramer and I headed to Grand Rapids today to pick Wilma up from Paws HQ. I missed my girl and I think she missed me too....she was so happy to see me she grinned from ear to ear. Dr. Jeanne said everyone got a kick out of Wilma's grinning. While at HQ, I also got to meet Laker. What a handsome boy he is! These should be awesome puppies.
Afterwards we drove to Holland for the day to visit my friend Lora. We went to the state park, walked out on the pier and posed in front of Big Red. Then we took a walk on a nature trail. It was a perfect fall day to spend outside and at the lake, even if Wilma didn't get to swim.

Meet the Daddy
The plan is to breed Wilma to Laker!
Laker is show dog thru Annabar Labradors in Allendale, Michigan. His full name is CH AnnaBar Louie Laker.
Laker has produced several Paws litters including Ruby's "A" litter, Jamie's "K" litter, Lexie's "M" litter, Martini's "O" litter, and the upcoming Gilly litter due in early November. He's been a busy boy!

Paws Mom Dogs
Wilma and I met some of the other Paws mom dogs and their families. Chocolate lab Gilly, black lab Jamie, and goldens Bongo and Partner. Hope's family was there too, but Hope stayed home. What a wonderful group of dogs these girls are!
Treat time!
Gilly's big brother Aspen (black lab) and Jamie's little brother Doug (yellow lab) were there too.
Gilly had the "G" litter in February, 8 puppies born just before Wilma's "H"s. Gilly was bred recently and will find out soon if she has puppies. Her mom thinks it'll be a Yes.
In March,Partner had her 10 "J" puppies. The letter "I" was skipped since Partner had 10 puppies and "I" is a harder letter to come up with good puppy names. Partner is in season again, but it's her off season so she will not be bred. She deserves a break.
Next in March was Jamie and her special "K"s. Jamie is due again in 2 weeks but doesn't look it at all!
Bongo had her first litter in May, 10 "P" puppies. Wilma and Bongo are still waiting to come into season again and the plan is to breed them both.
Hope is in season now too. That's why she was at home. (I stole this pic of her off the MyFamily Paws puppy site.)
The dogs all had a good time and were very well behaved. Lots more puppies on the way for Paws!
